Hua Hin with kids

Hua Hin is one of Thailand's easiest family destinations: calm shallow beaches, short drives, big family resorts and a cluster of kid-focused parks between Cha-am and Khao Takiab. Top picks are Vana Nava Water Jungle, the Santorini Park theme park, Swiss Sheep Farm and an ethical elephant visit. Most attractions are 10–40 minutes from town by car.

Water parks and theme parks

Vana Nava, near the Holiday Inn on Phetkasem Road, is the town's big water park with slides for teens and a gentle splash zone for small children. Northwards in Cha-am, Santorini Park mixes Greek-island-style buildings with rides and a play area, and the Swiss Sheep Farm next door lets children feed sheep and ride ponies. They're close enough to combine in one day.

Animals, done responsibly

Hutsadin Elephant Foundation cares for retired working elephants; visits focus on feeding and learning rather than riding. For wild elephants, Kui Buri National Park runs safari trucks in the late afternoon – a memorable outing for older children. Keep away from the monkeys at Khao Takiab; they grab bags and food.

Rainy-day ideas

  • Malls with play zones and cinemas – see our Market Village guide.
  • Bowling, indoor play centres and kids' cooking classes run by some resorts.
  • An evening walk through the night market for snacks and toys – see Hua Hin night markets.

Getting around with children

Songthaews have no seat belts, and tuk-tuks aren't ideal for small children. Our cars can carry child seats on request – mention ages when you book. The SUV takes a family of five with luggage, and the van suits two families travelling together. The drive from Bangkok airports is about 3–3.5 hours; plan a stop at a service station on Rama II or in Phetchaburi.
